The summit of Mount Mara boasts one of the best viewpoints in the area, as it is the highest peak in Hunter’s Range. From the top you can take in the snow-capped Monashee mountains, Mabel Lake and the winding Shuswap Valley leading to Mara/Shuswap Lake. Mt. Mara lookout is home to a small cabin previously occupied as a fire lookout station to spot forest fires in the surrounding mountainous landscape. It was originally built in 1925 and replaced in 1950. The trek to the summit of Mt. Mara is filled with pristine mountain lakes, and alpine meadows.
The surrounding area to Mt. Mara are a popular destination for hikers, mountain bikers, ATVs, hunters and sledders.
